| Bogazici University Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute () OF), the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO in 2005, the sub-organ “founded in the north-eastern Atlantic, the Mediterranean and Connected Seas intergovernmental coordination group for the Tsunami Early Warning and loss mitigation system (ICG/NEAMTWS)” from the very beginning has been actively involved in the work of regional earthquake and tsunami monitoring center established to provide service and in this context the work of the important contributions of other national institutions and organizations since 2009 continues. On July October 1, 2012, KRDAE successfully announced its mission as a Tsunami candidate Observer, and on October 26, 2011, it was held in Bucharest on the 13th. It has achieved Tsunami observation Provider status as accredited at the ICG/NEAMTWS session. KRDAE, which evaluates earthquakes with a moment magnitude of 5.5 and above from earthquakes within the observation area according to their tsunami potential, sends tsunami warning messages to member countries if necessary as a result of assessments and monitors whether the tsunami occurred by making water level observations. |
